UN Resolution on Road Safety
April 21, 2008
Kjaer Group welcomes the passage of UN Resolution A/62/L.43, which was adopted in March 2008. The resolution calls for greater international collaboration and resources to combat the growing epidemic of poor road safety, which each year claims 1.2 million lives and injures millions more. In addition to calling for ministerial level action in 2009, the resolution highlights the responsibility fleet managers have in enhancing the safety of their vehicle fleets, mitigating accidents and improving conditions for vulnerable road users.
UN Resolution A/62/L.43 Article 6 Reads:
“Encourages organizations in both the private and public sector with vehicle fleets, including agencies of the United Nations system, to develop and implement policies and practices that will reduce crash risks for vehicle occupants and other road users.”
